Note: The new graduation requirements are now active for 2025.
Methodology Certification now has 15 courses.
The new Methodology package includes ME-205 Latin for Genealogists, which takes the 5th spot in the Intermediate Methodology course order.
You’re welcome to take it as an elective if you have already completed your certificates through Intermediate Methodology. Not sure how it works? Ask for a copy of the IIGS Course Catalog on the chat app.
Here’s a taste of what’s happening at IIGS for 2025!
- We’ll see you at RootsTech 2025 in our booth!
- Claire Bradley is continuing to update courses in the Irish program with completely rewritten and new information to a brand new Irish course. She’ll also be presenting at RootsTech!
- Morag Peers MSc, our new Director of Scottish Records, has joined us. She is working on the new Scottish courses to complete that certificate. She’ll be presenting online at RootsTech!
- Pamela Vittorio is starting on Advanced Italian courses to complete the Italian program while Melanie Holtz is finishing the last few for the Intermediate Italian courses.
- Cheryl Levy, Brenda Wheeler, Claire Bradley, and Sue de Groot have each worked on everything from updating courses to mentoring students. Many of our students have worked directly with them.
- We will continue to have a few regular guest hosts including our Lecturing Skills mentor, Kathy Holland, and Eastern European presenter, Lisa Alzo. We’ll continue to have guest speakers to enhance your genealogy journey. You’ll be introduced to new ideas for your genealogical career, research, and business ideas.
Joining us this January are three new staff members!
- Laurie James will begin training as a mentoring professor in Analysis and Skills courses. Please enjoy getting to know her if she’s sitting in on your appointment or becomes your mentoring professor in the future.
- Yechezkel Bund joins us working on marketing, student advising, and course work. You may also see Y in virtual meetings, and chat with him on the phone or on our IIGS chat app.
- Drew Von Hasslebach joined us in late 2024 and has already started revamping several of our Canadian courses. He’s already finished Canadian: Wills 1, and it’s in the editing/format line-up for 2025, as he starts on the next Canadian courses. You’ll see Drew in some Canadian virtual meetings, too.
Is there more? Definitely! But, you’ll just have to join us in 2025 to find out!
