What is PLCGS?

PLCGS is Professional Learning Certificate in Genealogical Studies. This is the post nominal credential that is awarded to students who have completed a full certificate program with IIGS.  To earn this credential, you must complete a minimum of 40 credits. These credits consist of 15 Methodology courses, 10-16 country records or librarianship courses, and electives. Once you have earned your PLCGS you will receive a letter bestowing your post nominal along with a the officially embossed and sealed graduation certificate.  Many of our graduates have built successful careers after receiving their PLCGS. These careers include giving lectures at genealogy events including RootsTech, forensic genealogy solving cold cases or repatriating fallen soldiers, and curating at local museums and archives. The International Institute of Genealogical Studies is a year-round trade school allowing you to take courses on your schedule. We do not adhere to quarters or semesters.
