For the month of April, we have highlighted some of the 225+ genealogy and research courses offered at The International Institute for Genealogical Studies. There are a variety of themes and topics to choose from. Hopefully, we will feature some courses that you were not aware of and pique your interest to explore further.
N is for NICHE
Creating a genealogical business requires many steps. First, there is self-analysis to determine who you are, what you are passionate about, what you want to research, and what kind of business you wish to start. In developing business skills for a genealogy research business, you will learn which skills you need in order to accomplish your business goals. As each new business opportunity presents itself, you will be faced with choices about which direction to take.
These two courses will suggest several niche themes, and allow you the assess how feasible each one is for your research interests and expertise. Choosing a Niche narrows your focus, allowing you to take the time to develop the skills necessary to continue to grow in specific research aspects for your genealogy business. You may develop more than one niche – perhaps with a local expertise and a specific research theme. This can provide more than one income stream.
