Census Records are among the most useful and utilized records available to genealogists.
By documenting families and individuals,
they give us a picture of what was happening when they were taken.
Canadian: Census Records Part 1 will facilitate your journey through these records and assist you in analyzing the information they contain.
What You Will Learn:
Beginning with an introduction to the different types of census records and where to find them, you will learn how to read them and understand the information that was documented. You’ll be able to find ancestors in urban and rural areas, what to look for when comparing records, and what to do if you are unable to find someone in census records. Census substitute records, research strategies, and additional resources are explored. A short history of Canadian Census Records is also included.
This course can be taken for personal interest or as an elective. It is one of the courses included in the Canadian Records Certificate.
