This month brings a change in seasons. We will all be transitioning from the previous season to a fresh new season. Transitions take us out of our established routine and bring new challenges. It’s time to shuffle our wardrobes and perhaps our schedules as well. Whether you are headed into planting season or harvest season – change is coming!
Our ancestors experienced many transitions during their lifetime as well. Have you looked deeper into their stories? Did they change locations? Wars and conflicts certainly spurred them on to make those life-changing decisions. Did they emigrate to escape persecution, or to follow a dream to a better future for their family? Waves of immigration brought many settlers to a strange new land. Many had to make sacrifices and endure hardships to achieve success in their new homes. Even more migrated to various locations before putting down roots to establish the new family homeland.
Each story is extremely interesting and uniquely their own. However, was it ever recorded? Did they pass along their experiences and achievements? Or did it get lost two or three generations down the line? Sadly, many do not know the accomplishments of their ancestors beyond living memory.
We can change that! We research our family history and share it with our families, and to extended family members, who have relocated themselves. We are the historians in our families, gathering those precious memories.
