Lecturing Skills Course

Are you interested in developing your genealogy Lecturing Skills? With the uncertainty of restrictions for in-person meetings, many societies and organizations have taken the plunge to host virtual or hybrid meetings, many for the first time. This has created an increased need for presentation lectures and speakers ready to present online. The  International Institute of Genealogical Studies offers many courses on specific topics, including our Lecturing Skills course.

Learn how to prepare and present a successful lecture in genealogy research.

Our Lecturing Skills and Preparation course focuses on the skills needed to present genealogical-related lectures to a variety of audiences. It is a “hands-on” course where the student will develop all aspects of the lecturing process including the proposal and biographical sketch; marketing; syllabus material; creating lecture slides; and much more. The step-by-step course material will guide you all the way, creating templates to use over and over, no matter what your topic may be.

Note: In order to complete this course, the student must develop and give a 30-minute lecture to an audience of students and/or genealogical society members virtually via our Virtual Learning Room. This very practical application of skills learned will launch them with confidence into becoming a valuable asset to any genealogical society or organization, or add an additional income stream to their genealogical business plan.

This 14-week course is currently scheduled three times per year. If you choose to include this course in your genealogical education plan, click the Register tab and you will find the upcoming scheduled start dates.

The International Institute of Genealogical Studies offers quality online education with over 240 courses. Our wide range of courses cover specific countries, enhance methodology research, build skills to maximize your research time, and all count toward the certification you choose.
