Announcing the DNA and Genetic Genealogy Certificate

The pursuit of genealogical evidence requires a combination of researching original records and other methodologies, including incorporating DNA to connect families and uncover ancestral lines. For that reason, The National Institute for Genealogical Studies, is proud to announce our latest certificate program, DNA and Genetic Genealogy. We are very pleased that this program is under the guidance of genetic genealogist: Shannon Combs Bennett, MSc, QG, PLCGS.

Genealogists interested in DNA, and what it offers, need to be prepared to understand what DNA can reveal and how to interpret DNA test results. In addition, they need to be able to find and understand relevant matches. The DNA and Genetic Genealogy Certificate will help the genealogist not only better understand genetic genealogy, but also prepare them to successfully interpret results, assist in various situations, and continue learning about this field as new discoveries are made. In addition, a regular virtual meeting on the topic of DNA is facilitated by Shannon Combs Bennett. This meeting assists students with the course and DNA questions.
